Bio
I am Timothy Duncan, a recent Georgia State University graduate with a Bachelors in English and a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition. I grew up my whole life being immersed in books. As a child, I remember boasting to my peers about reading my social studies textbook front to back in mere months, I stunned my parents with my English grades, and I would be found curled up with a book too often to count. While I did not write as much as I read, I still tried to dip my toes into the water whenever possible.
During late middle school and high school, I developed an interest in Computer Science, and I began to spend more time refining code instead of reading. This resulted in an acceptance at GSU to study Computer Science. However, I found myself appreciating prose more than code, so I eventually settled as an English major.
Nevertheless, I found the computer science experience useful at various points in my degree program, whether I needed to code and host a website, analyze fictional works with differing literary frameworks, or even to write a beautiful memo. Additionally, Rhetoric and Composition studies has made me appreciate all the little things about my own and my peer’s styles of speaking and writing, as well as making me more inclined to write. I believe that understanding these nuances has been the most valuable thing I’ve learned.
